How To Remove Shortcut Virus From Pendrive Or System

Before going through the steps to delete this virus from your system, let me give you a brief overview of what this virus does. This will make it easier for us to understand and solve the problem. This virus surfaced in 2010 and has been around with different names since then. It injects itself to system startup, creates a few executable files inside the USB drive which look like shortcuts, hides the original folders and files inside the USB drive, copies itself into the profile folder of the current user and connects to an outside computer.

Now how to fix it? Don't worry there are some ways from which you can remove this virus from your system and also from your Pan drive.

Method:1-
Step 1: open Task Manager By ctrl+alt+del.Goto "process" tab there you will find "Wscript.exe". just end this process.


Step 2:Go to "control panel>Folder options>View"and click on "show hidden file folder and drives".and uncheck "Hide empty drive in the computer folder" and"hide extension for known type files".


Step 3: open run by pressing (winndow+r) and type %temp% and hit enter.(you can manually find this location==>C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Local\Temp )


Step 4: Find there file name "nkvasyoxww.vbs" or any type of .vbs file if exist then delete it(you can delete all your files in temp folder it will increase your systems performance).


Step 5:Check startup if this file "nkvasyoxww.vbs" or any unusual type of .vbsfile just delete it.
      or
 Open run (window+r),type "msconfig" hit enter there will be a "startup" tab click on it .if there file name  "nkvasyoxww.vbs" or any type of unusual .vbs file exists and checked just uncheck it.


Step 6:Now do this command to your USB location using command prompt(open command prompt as administrator ).
Note-Here i assume your pan drive letter as E.change it as your location of pan drive. 
attrib -h -r -s /s /d E:\*.*
Now Delete all files in your pan drive one by one with the extension  .vbs and.inf (.vbs files are must to delete)

Method:2-

Click on Start --> Run --> Type cmd and press Enter. "Command Prompt" will be opened. 

Now type the below commands 

Here I assume your pen drive letter as E: 

Enter this command. 

attrib -h -r -s E:\autorun.inf --> Press Enter 

del E:\autorun.inf ---> Press Enter

[You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and paste it.]

Note : Don't forget to replace the letter  E with your flash drive letter.
